This pictureque area, less than half an hour from the centre of perth, is where our first serious industry began just a short time after founding settlers stepped ashore at Rous Head in Fremantle.

This versatile area produces some fine sparkiling wines, luscious fortifieds, the popular chenin blanc and verdelho style, with some very good chardonnays, and among the reds, quality shiraz and cabernet is produced.
